Sephardic Jews of Nevis

Sephardic Jewish cemetery of Nevis

Nevis was claimed by England in 1620 and colonised in 1628.

A Sephardic Jewish cemetery on the island has been researched by Michelle Terrell. She has managed to decipher fifteen gravestones.

Michelle reports that one family, the Pinheiros, maintained ties with the island for 150 years.

I hope it is OK for me to copy the list of gravestones:

I am especially curious about Jacob Vas Men… I wonder if he may belong to a family that was in Mexico in the 1640s.
